Hurricane season is almost here, and storm prep is underway. Have you taken time to secure your fence?

Here are some steps to help ease some of your worries.

• Some of the MAJOR reason fences fall during windstorms, is due to large tree branches that crash into the fence sections. Check around your yard for any loose or dead tree limbs that look like they will break during the storm. You can prevent damage to your fence by removing any overhanging limbs.
• Loose/damaged fence posts can also be picked up by high winds. If you have any old or rotten posts that are lifting out of the ground, you should remove and rebury the posts.
• If you have a gate or a double gate on your fence you should make sure it is LOCKED before the storm. We recommend using a DROP ROD to properly secure a double gate. For extra security, you can block the front or back of the gate with cement blocks.
